S.N. Goenka, the internationally known teacher of meditation, and Kiran Bedi, former Inspector General of Prisons, New Delhi, India, will participate in a discussion on Tuesday, April 23, entitled "Meditation Now, Inner Peace through Inner Wisdom," in Alfred Lerner Hall, as part of their North American tour. The event begins at 8:00 p.m. and is co-sponsored by the Office of the University Chaplain and the Columbia Buddhist Meditation Group.
Goenka is in North America to speak about the ancient meditation practice Vipassana, a simple and practical way to achieve real peace of mind.
Bedi gained international recognition for her innovative prison reform efforts as the head of the Tihar Prison.
The event is free and open to the public.
