Collapsed Stars Provide Astronomers with Insights into Evolution of Universe

Two teams of astronomers, including Professor David Helfand of Columbia, have identified a pair of collapsed stars that would provide unexpected insights into how the universe evolved after the big bang of the cosmos. The research, which employed NASA's orbiting Chandra X-ray Observatory, was reported by The New York Times. on April 11.
