Columbia and Barnard students are invited to attend the annual Student Lobby Day in Albany, NY, on Tuesday, February 11. Participants will take a bus to Albany for a day of meetings with state legislators or their staff. The trip includes a briefing about how to lobby effectively. This is a great opportunity to advocate for the New York State student aid programs and learn about the state legislative process.
The bus will depart from 116th Street and Broadway at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11, and will depart Albany at 3:00 p.m. Breakfast and lunch are provided.
Columbia's Office of Government Affairs, along with the Health Sciences Office of Government and Community Affairs and Barnard College Office of the General Counsel, coordinate lobbying efforts to help support funding for the state student aid programs. Through Student Lobby Day, students are offered the opportunity to assist in this effort. New York State residents are encouraged to participate, but all interested Columbia and Barnard students are invited to attend.
To sign up for the 2003 Albany Student Lobby Day email Cathy Dente, Government Relations Associate, with your name, school, graduation year, phone number and hometown/permanent address.
