Columbia Celebrates Asian Pacific American Awareness Month

Throughout the month of April Columbia celebrates Asian Pacific American Awareness Month through a series of discussions and film screenings.

Making Changes: Asian Pacific Americans in Politics

Dinner will be served.

New York City's first Asian Pacific American Councilman, John Liu, will discuss how in a city with nearly 800,000 Asian Pacific Americans, New York City has never before had an Asian American representative. Come enjoy dinner and a Q & A session with Liu as he speaks about his journey to making an historical landmark.

Film Screening "About Face": The First APA Women at Barnard College

This short film will explore the fine boundary between preserving the traditional aspects of culture and knowing when to cross them as we delve into the backgrounds surrounding the first Asian American women to matriculate at Barnard.
