Columbia Celebrates Chinese New Year; Year of the Monkey, Jan. 24
On Saturday, Jan. 24, the Columbia University Chinese Students and Scholars Association (CUCSSA) will host one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations in the Eastern United States in honor of the Year of Monkey and the passing Spring Festival. Festivities will be held in the Roone Arledge Auditorium, Alfred Lerner Hall, from 6:00 p.m. to midnight .
Scheduled events include: a traditional spring festival dinner with Chinese food; performances by well-known professional Chinese artists and students; dancing; karaoke; the CCTV Spring Festival Show Video, and screenings of Chinese movies such as Cell Phone (Shou3 Ji1) and Infernal Affairs III (Wu2 Jian4 Dao4 III).
The celebration is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door for $25. The event is sponsored by ZhongGuoCheng Supermarket, Attorneys Lorance Hockert & Weizhong (Rachael) Yu, CitiBank, Oxford Insurance and GSAC.
