RE: The Republican National Convention
August 30-September 2
Columbia University will remain open while the Republican National Convention is taking place in midtown Manhattan between August 30 and September 2. During this week schools and central administrative departments will be welcoming first year students and helping them get settled on campus, so it will be important for employees to come to work unless specific arrangements are made in advance to take vacation or personal time off.
Given the travel difficulties that are anticipated in and around the city, employees should budget extra travel time. Those who normally commute by car may want to consider carpooling or taking mass transportation.
For possible alternative scheduling and other options during this four-day period, please consult with your supervisor and/or manager.
