Columbia is proud to host the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on Saturday, October 1st. Approximately 1,500 walkers will make the trek through the Morningside campus between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. We encourage all to come out to College Walk at 116th and Broadway and help cheer on the walkers as they wind their way through the 39-mile route.
Funds raised will support the Avon Products Foundation, a public charity founded in 1955 with a mission to improve the lives of women. The mission encompasses three critical areas: economic opportunities for women, access to care, and finding a cure for breast cancer. The Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade began in the U.K. in 1992 and has expanded to 50 countries, with programs focused on reaching underserved populations, including minorities, elderly, underinsured, and uninsured. In just over 10 years, the Avon Crusade has raised more than $300 million for breast cancer research and care worldwide.
