Columbia University is currently open and will be open Monday, February 13th 2006, operating on a normal schedule at both the Morningside and Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) campuses. All classes are expected to be held as scheduled.
As you are aware, the New York City area received what may be the worst snowstorm ever. The NYC Office of Emergency Management (OEM) reported that as of 10:00 AM EST on Sunday, Central Park recorded 22.8" of snow, just 3.6" shy of the all-time record of 26.4" set on December 26-27, 1947.
Columbia University Facilities staff is working hard to maintain the campus and access to our residential buildings and will do so throughout the storm. Access to the Morningside campus, however, will be limited to the College Walk gates on Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue at 116th Street. Preparations to maintain the campuses over the next 24 to 48 hours and throughout the storm are in place.
Please continue to check the University's Web sites for updated information regarding cancellations and/or closures at the Morningside campus and the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) campus should they be necessary.
