"From Postwar to Postmodernism: Three Decades of Columbia Visual Artists," an exhibition featuring art world luminaries who are Columbia University alumni from the 1950s, '60s and '70s -- including Joan Jonas, Joyce Kozloff, Ursula Von Rydingsvard, and others -- celebrates the launch of Columbia University School of the Arts' Visual Arts Archive, which collects images of alumni artwork, photographs and writing about the visual arts in the school.
The exhibition is on display in the LeRoy Neiman Gallery in Dodge Hall through March 10. An opening reception, featuring Joan Jonas and other artists, will be held on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m. in the gallery.
The exhibition and archive are organized by Jerome Neuner (SoA, '69) director of exhibition design and production at the Museum of Modern Art, Noah Fischer (SoA '04), Gareth James(chair, SoA Visual Arts Division), and Garth Graeper (SoA development officer). The exhibition includes a selection from the archive and other paintings, sculptures, and video installations generously loaned by notable alumni artists. |
