Concert, Exhibit Celebrate Columbia-Harlem Relationship, April 24

The Alliance for Community Enhancement (ACE) and Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) invite you to a celebration of Harlem's musical and cultural heritage. "Harlem and Columbia in Harmony: Celebrating our Communities" will feature performances by Harlem's Salvation and Deliverance Church Choir and the Columbia Metro Tones A Cappella Group. 

The event will take place on Monday, April 24 from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Low Library Rotunda (535 W. 116 St. between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue). 

Opening remarks will be given by Lisa Anderson, dean and James T. Shotwell Professor of International Relations of the School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA) and former New York City Mayor David N. Dinkins, also a professor of professional practice at SIPA. 

There also will be a reception and book signing on the occasion of the publication of Listening to Harlem: Gentrification Community & Business (Routledge) by David J. Maurrasse, associate research scholar and adjunct assistant professor at SIPA. The Studio Museum of Harlem will exhibit a photographic presentation by students from Harlem Children's Zone, a nonprofit education and mentoring organization.
