The talk begins at 6:30 p.m. in the gallery.

This exhibition introduces U.S. audiences to a startling, but largely unknown, body of work by two Czech architects, the twin brothers Lubomír and Čestmír Šlapeta . Through sketches, plans, photographs and models, the exhibition examines more than 50 projects: private residences, hotels, theaters, cultural centers and municipal buildings. Their work shows the radical transition in modernist architecture from the 1920s to the 1930s.

Vladimír Šlapeta, who is Lubomír Šlapeta's son, co-organized the exhibition.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, April 19, and will remain on view through June 10. The Wallach Art Gallery is located on the 8 th floor of Schermerhorn Hall. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, 1 – 5 p.m.  Admission is free. For more information, visit  http://www.columbia.edu/cu/wallach/index.html.
