The issue has come to the forefront, especially in France, Germany and the United States, as governments are seized with the problem and seek a coherent and intelligent response to the phenomenon, even as popular writers and protesters in the streets seek to take part in the debate. The prominent economic journalist, Sylvia Nasar, the author of A Beautiful Mind, will present the introductory and concluding remarks.
