On Monday afternoon, Columbia President Lee Bollinger wrote to Virginia Tech President Steger expressing the profound condolences of the Columbia community to the students and parents, faculty and staff of Virginia Tech.

Yesterday, Columbia's flags were flown at half-staff in honor of those who were killed.

Tonight, Wednesday, Columbia students will hold a candlelight vigil on College Walk at 9 pm in memory of those who were lost and in support of the injured survivors at Virginia Tech.

The entire Columbia University community mourns the loss of these individuals and we send our prayers and condolences to their friends and families and to all the students, staff and faculty at Virginia Tech.
