November Elections Expected to Be Close, Says Political Science's Robert Erikson
Political Science Professor Robert Erikson expects a close election in 2002, as it was in the 1998 midterm election. Midterm elections have a more truncated and partisan electorate, he says, with only about one-third of those eligible voting. Because the politically uninvolved are less likely to vote in mid-term elections, Erikson says these elections are more predictable.
