SOA, Journalism School Host Film Screening, Panel Discussion with George Clooney
The Columbia University School of the Arts, in conjunction with the Graduate School of Journalism, hosted a screening of Warner Independent Pictures' new movie, Good Night, and Good Luck, at Miller Theater on Oct. 14.
Following the screening, journalism school Dean Nicholas Lemann moderated a panel with (left to right): George Clooney co-writer, director, and star of the film (Clooney plays Fred Friendly in the movie, longtime professor at the journalism school) ; Victor Navasky, Delacorte Professor of Journalism, director of the George Delacorte Center for Magazine Journalism at the journalism school, chairman of Columbia Journalism Review, and editorial director and publisher of The Nation ; Cynthia McFadden, co-anchor of ABC's "Nightline" and " Primetime", and ABC News senior legal correspondent; and Grant Heslov, co-writer, producer, and star of the film.
Panelists discussed the making of the movie, the legacy of Edward R. Murrow, and the current state of journalism.
