Summer Program for
Under-Represented Students:
A Biomedical Research Program

Undergraduate Hunter College students who aspire to be physicians and research scientists partnered with mentors at the College of Physicians and Surgeons this past summer as part of an annual fellowship for minorities, initiated in 2002 by CUMC's Andrew Marks. The program, known as SPURS (Summer Program for Under-Represented Students), has since expanded and is now also being offered to students from Brooklyn College and Queens College. Mayor Dinkins will invite prospective students to his home this coming February to cultivate more interest in the program.
