The Vietnam War Has Had a Profound Impact on South Korea, Says History's Charles Armstrong
Columbia History Professor Charles Armstrong analyzed the economic, social and political impact of the Vietnam War on South Korea in a lecture sponsored by the School of International and Public Affairs' East Asian Institute. Feared by the Vietnamese in a way that the Americans were not, 300,000 Korean soldiers contributed to the war effort from 1965 to 1973, a contribution second only to the United States.
