R. Bin Wong Examines Asia's Place in World History

R. Bin Wong, Chancellor's Professor of History at the University of California, Irvine, looks at how Americans think about Asia and its place in world history and proposes new ways of integrating East Asian subjects into the larger curricula. Wong offers as one example for integration current research on the 1500s-1800s suggesting that the dynamic of economic expansion within the Chinese empire shows parallel economic expansion in Europe, during a lecture sponsored by the East Asian Institute.
