Arab leaders, including those in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia, do not support an American invasion of Iraq because they fear a backlash from their own populations, according to Tariq Ali, author of The Clash of Fundamentalisms: Crusades, Jihads and Modernity (Verso 2002). "Crowned heads might topple if there is an invasion," he says.
