Depictions of Muslim and Arab Americans in the Media Increased Positively Post-Sept. 11, Says Brigitte Nacos
Brigitte Nacos, adjunct political science professor, shares results of a study about media coverage of Muslim and Arab Americans before and after Sept. 11. Prior to Sept. 11, depictions of Muslim and Arab Americans were spotty, incomplete and focused on politics, she says. But in the aftermath approximately 43 percent of stories depicting these groups did so in a positive light and covered a wider range of issues.
