Robotic Soccer Competition Demonstrates that Robots Can Collaborate and Learn
At an event sponsored by Columbia's Center for the Study of Science & Religion, Manuela Veloso, computer science professor at Carnegie Mellon Universtiy, offers the example of a robotics soccer competition to demonstrate that robots can collaborate and learn. The participating robots are fully autonomous with perception, cognition and action capabilities that enable them to handle a much larger set of situations than they are specifically programmed for, says Veloso.
