Algeria Must Revitalize Oil Industry and Reassure Underemployed Workforce, Says Energy Minister Chakib Kheli

"What we have achieved, especially President Bouteflika, was to put Algeria back on the map," says Chakib Khelil, Minister of Energy and Mines for the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. Khelil discusses the difficulties faced by Algeria in its transformation from a centralized planned economy to an open market economy. Algeria must not only revitalize its damaged oil industry but also reassure its underemployed workforce, he says in a lecture sponsored by the Center for Energy, Marine Transportation and Public Policy.
