Scholarships

Check with your home school's department, study abroad office, or scholarship office to see if any other scholarships are available to you. You  may be eligible to apply for the following:

Critical Language Scholarship

KCJS has been selected as a site for the Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program, a program of the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by Council on American Overseas Research Centers and the American Councils for International Education. The CLS Program is part of a U.S. government interagency effort to expand dramatically the number of Americans studying and mastering critical need foreign languages.

The CLS Program provides full funding for U.S. citizens who are undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students.

The CLS program will operate separately but at the same time as the KCJS Summer Program. However, you can review the KCJS Summer Program website to get a sense of what to expect. Program details for those selected for the scholarship program will be provided upon acceptance to the CLS program.

Application deadline is December 18, 2009.

Because there are limited spots on the CLS Program, students who wish to study abroad in Japan for the summer are recommended to apply to both the CLS and the KCJS programs. You will not be able to apply to the KCJS after the CLS notification deadline since it will be too late.

For more information and the CLS application, please go to:

http://www.caorc.org/cls/index.html

For the KCJS application, please click Application Information on the left navigation bar.
