Program Information
The Department of Art History and Archaeology and the Department of Italian offer a six week summer program based at Ca’ Foscari University in Venice. The program uses an interdisciplinary approach to understanding Italian culture through the study of its language, art history, and architecture and the opportunity to gain a deeper appreciation of the rich Venetian culture, traditions and history.
The program is open to qualified undergraduate and graduate students who have studied at least one year of Italian. Students with one year of Italian enroll in an intensive intermediate Italian course designed to cover a full year of Italian and an art history course. Students with two or more years of Italian enroll in the art history course and participate in a conservation project with Save Venice.
Ca' Foscari University’s graduate students act as Cultural Partners who interact regularly with the program students and provide local perspectives into Italian language and culture. The Cultural Partners are involved in many aspects of the program including orientation, program activities, and field trips.
