Barnard Coordinator
Kelly Rodal, a member of the Barnard College Class of 2010, is from the state of Michigan and is one Barnard Coordinator. She is working extensively on transfer student events, international student events, and family activities, among other things. Kelly is planning on double majoring in Dance and German Language & Literature. She is interested in dancing professionally after college and eventually wants to become a teacher.
In her free time Kelly enjoys telling math jokes, eating dinner in John Jay and exploring New York City.
CC/SEAS Coordinator
Belinda is a Columbia College undergrad from the class of 2010 majoring in Economics/Philosophy with the aspirations of law school, Wall Street and the world -not necessarily in that order. She is from the West African country of Nigeria and is currently living in Michigan. She is involved in many activities on campus, among which are the African Students Association, the Columbia Women’s Business Society and the newest publication on campus- IDAYA magazine. She loves reading, singing, football (otherwise known as soccer to all the Americans out there), basketball, writing and watching Ugly Betty during her spare time.
As the CC/SEAS coordinator she is very excited to work with and welcome the class of 2012 to Columbia and is dedicated to providing them with a wonderful NSOP experience.
CC/SEAS Publications
Eugene Yao is a rising junior in SEAS majoring in Computer Science (Applications Track). He was born in Beijing, China, but moved to Connecticut when he was 4. On campus, he works hard in his studies and enjoys his extracurricular activities. Eugene is an editor on the yearbook staff that publishes Columbia's yearbook, The Columbian. He also works for CUIT where he can gets to tinker with the network (he's got a really good story about his job if you care to ask him). This summer though Eugene is excited to be on the NSOP Committee with such wonderful people!
Administrative
Davey Gibian, the administrative coordinator, hails from the rolling pediment of Unionville, PA. He is a rising sophomore in Columbia College and is currently pursuing the joint Political Science and Economics program. He is a member of the Columbia Rowing team, bringing with him a passion for competition. Always an activist, Davey is greatly concerned with the modern environmental issues facing the world. He is looking forward to a great summer in New York City and can't wait for NSOP 2008!
CC/SEAS Social Programmer
Akosua Ayim is a member of the Columbia College class of 2011 and is potentially majoring in Economics. She is the NSOP 2008 Social Programmer for CC/SEAS and is originally from West Orange, New Jersey. She enjoys dancing on campus with Onyx Dance Troupe, singing in the Gospel Choir and being on the African Student’s Association’s E-board. Akosua (or Ko, for short) is extremely excited to be working with NSOP and can’t wait to meet all of the incoming students! She hopes that all of you enjoy the programs and make it out to as many as you possibly can!
Business and Technology
Michelle Madejski, SEAS 2010, is majoring in Computer Science and minoring in Entrepreneurship. She’s psyched to be your 2008 NSOP Business and Technology Coordinator, hoping to make your orientation absolutely amazing. In her spare time, she loves graphic design, writing website biographies about herself, and enjoys the coveted title of being undefeated in Star Wars trivial pursuit. She loves music and has professionally web developed for a variety of music managers, bands, and Universal Music.
Transfer, Visiting, International, and Combined Plan
Edward Mosley, SEAS class of 2010, plans on majoring in Electrical Engineering and is the Transfer, Visiting, International, and Combined Plan Student Coordinator, or just TVIC for short. He missed his chance to work with NSOP last year, and made a promise to himself to make it up the following year, and that's exactly what he's doing. He's super excited about the entire NSOP staff, and is very energized about the oncoming summer. Coming from St. Benedict's Prep. in Newark, New Jersey, Edward currently plays wing for Columbia University's Rugby Football Club. He is also a member of the SEAS 2010 student council.
If you had seen any of the fashion shows from the spring, you might have been able to catch a glimpse of him in the event. Make sure to say hi when you see him, and make sure he's as excited as he says he is...
BC Publications
Elesse Eddy, Barnard Class of 2009, hails from Hingham, Massachusetts, a small town just south of Boston. She is currently pursuing a major in music with minors in architecture, physics, and math because she couldn't pick just one. As a transfer student, she is in love with Barnard and the whole Columbia community! In addition to NSOP, she works in the Admissions Office, tutors in the Physics Help Room, and is co-editor of the Barnard Mortarboard Yearbook. In her spare time she can be found babysitting, reading, and attending as many Broadway shows as possible.
BC Personnel
Annette LaRocco (BC 10) is a junior in Barnard College double majoring in English and Political Science. Annette was born and raised in beautiful, sunny New Jersey. In addition to being this year's BC Personnel Coordinator, she is a Barnard Writing Fellow, on the McAC Action Committee and is a member of the Columbia University College Democrats. She loves all things Italian, especially hazelnut gelato and Fellini films. She is excited to help plan this year's NSOP and can't wait to meet the Class of 2012.
BC Programmer
Sylvia Abdullah (BC '11) is a Barnard Programmer. She was born and raised in New York, and although she loves to travel, NYC remains her favorite place in the world. She enjoys going to museums and spending hours at coffee shops. She is in the process of choosing a major, and her side activities include writing, drawing, painting, decorating and re-decorating everything she owns, and planning vacations with her friends. Of course, this summer she hopes to channel all of her creative energy into working towards a fabulous NSOP 2008!
CC/SEAS Personnel
Laura is a rising junior at Columbia College and is double majoring in English and Psychology with a concentration in Dance. She can be found dancing and/or singing almost any time of day, especially in the shower. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Laura loves sunshine, palm trees, and beaches. Luckily enough, she loves people too, which is why she is happy to spend her summer working with all the amazing NSOP volunteers. Laura is also a big fan of other volunteer organizations on campus, especially the ones that are health related. When she’s not dancing or eating, she is a Leadership Council member and educator for Peer Health Exchange as well as a volunteer with Project Health STRIVE. With any other spare time, Laura likes to listen to music, talk to people, and make people laugh (well and shop occasionally, but we don’t talk about that).
BC Programmer
Kelsey Ingram is so excited to be a social programmer for NSOP 2008. As a junior at Barnard College, Kelsey has immersed herself in the Columbia University community. She is currently co-president of Metrotones acapella choir, a member of the Alliance of Students Against Poverty (ASAP) board of directors and a proud sister of Delta Gamma. In the past, Kelsey has been involved with numerous activities including the McIntosh Activity Council, Peace by Peace, Barnard Intramurals, as well as stage managing the production of Tick, Tick, Boom! in 2007. Outside of school and extra-curriculars, Kelsey is involved with NY Volunteers as well as Improv Everywhere. She loves traveling to exotic places, singing, reading historical non-fictions, enjoying the outdoors as well as exploring the city. She is very excited to welcome the class of 2012 and introduce them to the university and city she has grown to know and love.
CC/SEAS Programmer
Reanna Wilborn is an upcoming sophomore at Columbia College. She is fascinated by the human mind and intends to major in psychology and possibly neuroscience. Born in Louisiana but raised in Oklahoma, Reanna enjoys running, reading, shopping, and watching Quentin Tarantino films. As the Academic Coordinator this year, Reanna looks forward to meeting incoming students and helping them to find their niches here at Columbia.
GS Coordinator
Martha is from Ecuador and is currently living in New York City. She is an undergraduate student at Columbia University School of General Studies and is majoring in Biology. In her spare time she likes to run and also practice archery. As the GS Programmer for NSOP she is excited to work with CC, SEAS, and Barnard for the first time.
