Undergraduate Philosophy Forum
7.00-8.00 pm, Thursdays, Room 716 Philosophy Hall
Each week, the group holds an hour-long discussion on a topic of broadly philosophical interest. Discussions do not require knowledge of technical philosophical vocabulary or any specific preparation. They are accessible and informal: everyone has the opportunity to talk, but no one is required to. Last year, we discussed the following topics (among others):
1. The ethics of illegally downloading music and film.
2. Whether knowledge is an intrinsic good.
3. The distinction between lying and bullshit.
4. Whether we have a duty to commemorate past events.
5. How language influences thought.
