Professor Macartan Humphreys and co-author Jeremy Weinstein (Stanford) received the 2007 Luebbert Article Award, presented by the American Political Science Association Organized Section in Comparative Politics, for "Handling and Manhandling Civilians in Civil War," published in American Political Science Review (99, 1: 61-74).

The Organized Section in Comparative Politics is the largest organized section in the American Political Science Association. The Luebbert Article Award committee considers articles published in the two years prior to the year in which the award is made.
