October, 1994 Postcrypt Schedule
Postcrypt Coffeehouse
October, 1994
Friday, October 7
- Michael Kovacs -- Describing his music as landing somewhere between
Windham Hill and Metallica, Michael has taken his acoustic music to both
coasts. Welcome him for his Postcrypt debut!
- Margo Hennebach -- An accomplished pianist and guitarist, Margo blends
Celtic instrumentation with jazz-inflected melodies to create a challenging
folk fusion. She also has a CD out on the 1-800-PRIME-CD
label.
- The Low Road -- Long regarded as Philadelphia's best unsigned band, the
Low Road makes their return to the Postcrypt on the eve of the official release
of their debut CD on Passenger/Caroline Records. They have
appeared on the Mountain Stage radio program and recently have toured with Los
Lobos.
Saturday, October 8
- Judith Kate Friedman -- Lyllabyes, Odetta, Belafonte and Vivaldi, songs
of labor and civil rights all inspired New York-born Judith Kate to sing, play,
write and perform. Now based in San Francisco, she recently released her debut
CD, "Count Me In."
- Raymond Gonzalez and Amy Malkoff -- This Boston-based duo will impress
you with their beautiful harmonies and stirring melodies. They have just
released their debut CD, "On The Water," and they also appear on
Christine Lavin's "When October Goes" compilation.
- Steve Packanham -- A songwriter whose inspiration stems from diverse
talents such as Van Morrison, Leonard Cohen and Miles Davis, Steve recently
relocated to Berkeley, CA but will be stopping by during his trip back
east.
- Dave's True Story -- Winners of the New Folk competition at this year's
Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, Dave's True Story consists of vocalist Kelly
Flint and guitarist/vocalist David Cantor. Their sound combines the joyous
innocence of the 40's with a deadpan contemporary irony of the 90's.
