Friday, September 8

Jeff Cannon -- Jeff is the son of Postcrypt co-founder Rev. John Cannon. You may have heard him singing and playing guitar at Postcrypt History Night which was held back in February.

Peter Mulvey -- His lyrics focus on coming of age amidst the tremors and ironies of the last decades of now...plus, fan Jim Infantino says, "he's really killer on guitar."

Mad Woman in the Attic -- This talented trio made up of Diane Chodkowski, Adrienne Jones, and Margo Hennebach recently released The Official Bootleg, a self-produced cassette showcasing their harmonious sound. Come see them at the Postcrypt as they begin their fall tour of the northeast.


Saturday, September 9

John Carmen -- This Boston-area singer-songwriter is making his Postrcypt debut bringing his songs about life and love -- don't miss it!

The Wicomicos -- This duo of Carmen Yates (guitar/vocals) and Mikel Campbell (bass/vocals) hails originally from the eastern shore of Maryland, but is now based in New York. They bring their unique brand of urban folk to the Postcrypt in their debut!


Friday, September 15

Carmin Turco & Richie Mazzo -- Carmin played at the Postcrypt back in 1992, and we've invited him back with his cousin Richie to entertain us with their fine musicianship and song.

Robin Greenstein -- This multi-talented singer and songwriter from NYC merges folk, pop, rock, blues and jazz influences in her music. She wrote songs for Bob Dylan's publishing company for two years, and was a finalist at the 1989 Kerrville Folk Festival.

The Nudes -- Get ready! This local duo is going to rev things up with their unique electric upbeat style. Come early if you want a seat.


Saturday, September 16

Jane Byaela -- This excellent singer-songwriter's music is influenced by many sources -- from classical to blues, folk, and jazz.

Andrew Vladeck -- Columbia's own (class of '92) folk and blues man may surprise us with a banjo, along with his old guitar and harmonica. He's sure to pack the house!

Leroy Lange -- An alum of Columbia College, Leroy brings his "urban country music" to our stage with friends Mark Shapiro and Johnny Lockett.


Friday, September 22

Sarah Nagourney -- Sarah presents her brand of textural art-pop in her debut at the Postcrypt. She's also probably the first singer-songwriter to have her gigs listed on the society page of the New York Times.

Minus Ted -- Brian O'Neill and friends grace the night with their engaging lyrics and guitar-driven sound.

Petronella -- This feminist folk duo will captivate you with their rich harmonies, savvy lyrics, and off-beat sensibility. Petronella's songs engage issues of love, gender, and social justice. Their beautifully interwoven vocals and strong guitar foundation are the hallmark of their sound, fusing diverse folk, pop and traditional influences.


Saturday, September 23

Ansel Matthews -- Ansel is a great guitarist with an exceptional voice which has made him a Postcrypt regular for several years. He has several recordings, including one produced by Steve Addabbo.

Peter Spink -- Peter's CD, Won't Be Denied has gotten plenty of airplay on national radio. Welcome back this thoughtful singer-songwriter-guitarist to the Postcrypt stage.

Tanya Savory -- Raised in South Carolina, Tanya has been living in Nashville just over two years, and in that short time has become a regular performer at the renown Bluebird Cafe. She was also a New Folk finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas in '91, '93, and '94.

Jon Svetkey -- John's lyrics evoke laughter and nodding approval, provoke debate and heated discussion, and demand attention. He takes folk song traditions and twists them together with contemporary language and rhythm.


Friday, September 29

Michael Kaneicki -- This actor-musician lives in the East Village and has a "sweet soprano voice, jangly strumming, and impeccable phrasing" according to the Dallas Observer. Come check out Michael's Postcrypt debut.

Kazz -- You'll really enjoy hearing Kazz's bluesy voice, excellent guitar playing, and original songs. He has appeared at numerous Postcrypt open stages and was one of the performers at the 1993 Furnald Folk Festival.


Saturday, September 30

Open Stage -- Folk, blues, bluegrass, jazz, reggae you name it! We also welcome poets, storytellers, actors, comics, and performers of all kinds. Performances start at 9:00; sign-up begins promptly at 8:45. Eight to ten minute limit.
