Friday, October 6

The Marys -- Direct from the Hoboken Pop Scene, the Marys play songs with the spare, traditional "folk music" approach of vocal harmonies and acoustic guitar seasoned with Pop structure and sensibility.

Jim Infantino -- Jim recently released The World of Particulars on Gadfly Records. Lately, he's been touring the country with his band Jim's Big Ego. Don't miss this opportunity to catch him at the Postcrypt!

David Massengill -- Dulcimer player David Massengill is a veteran of the 'Crypt stage, having made his first appearence over 10 years ago. This Flying Fish recording artist also appeared at our 30th anniversary show last February.


Saturday, October 7

Kick at Heaven -- One of the fastest rising duos on the acoustic singer-songwriter scene today, Kick at Heaven is comprised of Jean Ganias and Steve Uhler. Since their first appearance together at a small Greenwich Village cafe in 1994, Kick at Heaven has come a long way in a very short time.

Howard Emerson -- All you lovers of fine fingerpicking and beautiful bottleneck can rejoice! Howard Emerson sings and plays the guitar like few others. You are guaranteed to be satisfied, so come early and get a seat!


Friday, October 13

Maria Sangiolo -- Maria is a compelling singer/songwriter with a voice that can send shivers. She writes songs with a passion and conviction that will leave you moved and mesmerised.

Richard Julian -- Richard Julian's music covers a wide range of influences, but keeps in the tradition of well-crafted songs with smart lyrics and real melodies. He is a fixture at the annual Fast Folk Revue at the Bottom Line, he has appeared at Nashville's respected Bluebird Cafe, and he has toured extensively in Switzerland and Italy.

Ellis Paul -- This Postcrypt favorite hails all the way from Boston and calls himself an "urban folksinger." With a rich voice, moving guitar playing, and the sensibility of an inner-city social worker, Ellis promises a moving performance. Ellis' honors include an appearance at the 1994 Newport Folk Festival, a coveted Boston Music Award, and the re-release of his latest album Say Something on Rounder Records.


Saturday, October 14

Jim Allen -- Talented guitarist Jim Allen often appears on Fast Folk recordings. He brings his bluesy voice back to our stage.

Lili Anel -- Lili's voice has a combination of elegance and earthiness that's arely heard. She's won numerous New York Music Awards, and has been compared to Joni Mitchell and Joan Armatrading.

Tanya Savory -- Tanya was a finalist in the '91, '93, and '94 Kerrville Folk Festivals. With her storytelling style of writing, filled with unique and vivid imagery, Tanya's music has been described as "the country side of folk" and "the folk side of pop with a touch of bluegrass."

Kamm & MacDonald -- Paul Kamm and Eleanore MacDonald have been performing original contemporary folk music together for 12 years. Their music is graced by their exquisite harmony and Paul's gentle guitar work which complement his lyrics perfectly.


Friday, October 20

Pat Humphries -- This long-time Postcrypt favorite's most recent distinction is that her song "Never Turning Back" was sung at the opening and closing ceremonies of the recent International Women's Conference in Beijing. It's a rare treat to have Pat at the Postcrypt, so you won't want to miss it!

Nedra Johnson -- Nedra was recently featured in Deneuve Magazine as one of Alix Dobkin's top 10 music picks. She's an accomplished bass guitarist with a big bluesy voice: come get it and feel good.

Susan McKeown & Greg Anderson -- You may know Susan through her band The Chanting House -- she sings original material with a distinctive style and an acoustic rock sound.


Saturday, October 21 -- An Evening with Outmusic

Outmusic is a national organization dedicated tocreating opportunity for and increasing awareness of lesbian and gay composers, lyricists, performers, and their supporters.

Jesse Hultberg -- Jesse recently released a self-titled CD, which received a critic's choice review from Billboard Magazine. He has an uncanny knack of appealing to a huge range of people.

Larry Langham -- Larry is a musician with an inventive approach to playing the guitar, as well as a pleasing and distinctive voice. His song "Snowplow" is on the Outmusic compilation Free. Larry is currently at work on a CD entitled Salt & Beloved.

Connie Lofton -- Connie is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who brings insight and humor to a unique combination of blues-, rock- and country-flavored original material. She is currently completing work on her first album.

Zonna -- Multi instrumentalist singer/songwriter Zonna creates songs that are honest and edgy. Her latest recording, Sink or Swim, will be available at this performance.


Friday, October 27

Keyo -- You probably know Keyo from hearing him sing in the neighborhood subway stations. Come catch this rare above-ground performance!

Gabe Dorman -- Gabe's a native New Englander who has been taking New York's acoustic scene by surprise with his blend of funky acoustic rhythms and soulful harmonies.

Hugh Pool -- Catch these traditional and original blues from a Postcrypt favorite. He's got some of the hottest guitar sounds around, and then some!


Saturday, October 28

Lynne Saner -- Originally from Northampton, MA but now based in Boston, Lynne's voice is described as mesmerizing and crystal clear. You're guaranteed to enjoy her irresistable melodies, songwriting, and stage presence!

Hamell on Trial -- Ed Hamell, the main star and only member of this group, was recently described by Rolling Stone as "...Husker Du on Folkways Records."
