POSTCRYPT COFFEEHOUSE: NOVEMBER 1996

The Postcrypt Coffeehouse is located in the basement of St. Paul's Chapel on the campus of Columbia University in NY. We feature live acoustic music from both local and national acts. When we say acoustic, we really mean it; there are no microphones. Columbia is located at 116th St. and Broadway and is accessible by the 1 and 9 subways. Admission is always free and open to all. Performances start at 9PM and generally run through 12:30AM.

INA MAY WOOL -- A Barnard alumna, Ina May used to frequent the Postcrypt stage and made her return last year at Postcrypt History Night. Welcome back this talented singer-songwriter!
PETER SPINK -- Peter's CD, "Won't Be Denied" has gotten plenty of airplay on national radio. Welcome this thoughtful singer-songwriter-guitarist back to the Postcrypt stage.
JIM INFANTINO -- Jim recently released The World of Particulars on Gadfly Records. Lately, he's been touring the country with his band Jim's Big Ego. Don't miss this opportunity to catch him at the Postcrypt!

GABRIEL DORMAN -- Gabe's a native New Englander who has been taking New York's acoustic scene by surprise with his blend of funky acoustic rhythms and soulful harmonies.
ANDREW VLADECK -- Columbia's own (class of '92) folk and blues man may surprise us with a banjo, along with his old guitar and harmonica. He's sure to pack the house!
JOHN TRAIN -- Also a Columbia alum, John will enthrall you with his skillful guitar playing and stories of the road.

GENE & MIMI -- With their "Greenwich Village cutting edge avant folk, Gene & Mimi are well-known to New York folk crowd. Recently, they've been playing at the Knitting Factory. Come check out this funky duo.
KATE JACOBS -- Kate Jacobs' songwriting covers unusual topics such as nunning and the Story of O. She's a long-time postcrypt veteran. Come early and get a seat!
MARGO HENNEBACH -- An accomplished pianist and guitarist, Margo blends Celtic instrumentation with jazz-inflected melodies to create a challenging folk fusion. She also has a CD out on the 1-800-PRIME-CD label.

THE METROTONES -- Welcome Columbia's own all-female a capella group!
CHRISTINE KANE -- Christine played at the Furnald Folkfest last spring, and we're happy to have her back at the 'Crypt!
HEATHER EATMAN -- This alternative folk-rock musician was heard recently at Bottom Line in a round-robin with Cheryl Wheeler, Dar Williams, and Ferron. Welcome Heather for her Postcrypt debut.

THE PROFESSOR AND MARYANN -- This duo was discovered by Bar None at CBGBs in the summer of '92. They were featured at a recent WFUV Required Listening concert at the Bottom Line.
EDDY LAWRENCE -- This New Jersey singer-songwriter hails originally from Alabama. Dirty Linen describes him as a "genius of a wordsmith, creating stories and characters that aren't readily forgotten."
HUGH POOL -- Catch these traditional and original blues from a Postcrypt favorite. He's got some of the hottest guitar sounds around, and then some! Hugh has a CD, Spirits Treat Me Gently.

SARAH GREENE -- Sarah creates a distinctive sound with her strong blues-oriented guitar work, haunting melodies, and stark lyrics. Sarah's jazz and blues playing echoes the past while pushing the limits of the genre. She has just released her debut album on the 1-800-PRIME CD label.
PAMELA MEANS -- Pamela hails from Boston, and she has opened shows for the likes of Neil Young, Ani DiFranco, and the Violent Femmes.
GREGG GREENWAY -- This Boston-based singer/songwriter recently appeared on Christine Lavin's "Big Times in a Small Town" compilation, and he was also a part of last fall's Shelter benefit concert at Carnegie Hall. The Boston Globe has described Greg's music as "...nothing short of revelatory."
