Town Hall Meeting on Internet Privacy Policy, Regulation, and Commerce; Discussion a Building Block to National Conversation on Internet Policy Framework

Designed to be a building block for a national conversation on United States' Internet policy, a Town Hall meeting on the Columbia campus will focus on the questions and concerns of the American public regarding the Internet.

Sponsored by the Internet Policy Institute , a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC, the meeting will be on Monday, September 25th in the Roone Arledge Auditorium from 5 to 7:30 p.m. RVSP by September 18 at www.nyonthenet.org , or by calling (888) 966-7366. On-site registration starts at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the meeting.

The Wall Street Journal's Kara Swisher, who covers technology, will moderate the event. The meeting will include a cross-section of New York's business, education, health care, and municipal leadership, as well as parents, senior citizens, and community organizations.

The Town Meeting is the second of a series of meetings - collectively titled "America: On the Net" - to be held across the United States this fall. The series precedes a December national summit in Washington, D.C., which will bring together the newly elected president of the United States, members of Congress, and key policymakers with industry leaders and Internet visionaries for a national discussion on an Internet policy framework for America.

The Internet Policy Institute's board of directors includes Dr. Robbie McClintock, co-director of the Institute for Learning Technologies at Teacher's College.
