MEDIA ALERT

Advisory on Coverage of Service for Carol Hamilton

Following are ground rules on coverage of the memorial service for Carol Hamilton, press secretary to Commerce Secretary Ronald Brown, which will be held tomorrow, Friday, April 26, at 3 P.M. in St. Paul's Chapel on Columbia University's Morningside Heights campus in New York City:

Television and still photography will be permitted inside during the service; please make arrangements in advance by calling Columbia's Public Information office at (212) 854-5573. Camera placement will be restricted; photographers will be asked to remain in one place - a section of the building's north transcept, from which clear and relatively close views will be available. Neither television lights nor flash photography will be allowed. Photographers should be prepared for low light, telephoto conditions.

Carol Hamilton was a member of Secretary Brown's party on the plane that crashed in Croatia April 3, killing all aboard. She was the daughter of Charles V. Hamilton, the Wallace S. Sayre Professor of Political Science at Columbia, and Dona Cooper Hamilton, associate professor of sociology and social work at Lehman College of CUNY.

Speakers at the service will include David Dinkins, Charles Rangel, Jesse Jackson and George Stephanopoulos.
