Michael Albright's
"Best of Best"
|
The original version of this list of college and
university instructional technology centers was put together by Michael
Albright, then
at the Instructional Technology Center of Iowa State University. Although
Mike's list has disappeared--along with the Center and Mike himself--I've
kept those links that still function. Originally available at http://www.public.iastate.edu/~mikealbr/links/bestofbest.html
Appalachian
State University, Instructional Technology Center. Media services; video
and audio production; distance learning center; repair services; off-campus
residential facilities. (In addition to the ITC page, the Academic Computing
Services page also has relevant links. I found the Technology
Plan particularly interesting, in light of what we are trying to do
at Columbia.) links ok 1/04/01
Ball
State University, Educational Development and Technology. I haven't
been able to connect to this yet.
California
State University Chico, Instructional Media Center. The Instructional
Media Center is just one part of Chico's extensive Technology
and Learning Program. I was very impressed by the resources available
at this site, as well as by the design of the web pages. links ok 1/04/01

MASSACHUSETTS
- Teaching
Technologies - University of Maryland
"Teaching Technologies is a unit of Academic Information Technology
Services (aITs), formerly the Computer Science Center, at the University
of Maryland. Our mission is to facilitate the threading of information
technology into the fabric of undergraduate and graduate education.
We provide tools (software), facilities (technology classrooms), and
most of all, support to faculty and students."
In addition to Academic Information Technology Services (aITs), the
Univ. of Maryland also has a Center for
Teaching Excellence (CTE). Together, CTE and aITs co-sponsor periodic
Teaching With Technology symposia, which provide "a forum in which faculty
innovators share their experiences and the tools they have developed
in an ongoing effort to integrate technology into their curricula."
- Center
for Instructional Advancement and Technology - Towson University
"The Center for Instructional Advancement and Technology supports
Towson University's commitment to excellence in teaching. It is the
faculty's central resource where solutions in the enhancement of the
teaching/ learning experience can be explored and developed. The Center
provides faculty the opportunity to investigate and apply current and
experimental technologies to instructional delivery. The CIAT staff
works collaboratively with faculty on: 1) curriculum and course design,
development of course materials, teaching and learning strategies, and
2) uses of new and powerful technological applications as they apply
to teaching and learning."
