Psychology W4415
Methods and Issues in Cognitive Neuroscience
Spring 2004
Kevin Ochsner and Tor Wager
In spring 2004 the topic for the course will be
the design and analysis of fMRI experiments.
The course will provide an introduction to common
fMRI experimental designs useful for studying emotion and cognition,
will consider the kinds of questions that fMRI methods can and cannot
address, and will provide tutorials and hands-on experience in the collection,
preprocessing, and statistical analysis of fMRI data.
To help in planning the specific content of the
course, the instructors would like to gauge potential course enrollment,
and the grounding that potential students might have in neuroscience
and psychological methods.
If you might be interested in taking this course,
please send an e-mail to the instructors:
Kevin Ochsner (ochsner@psych.stanford.edu)
and
Tor Wager (torw@umich.edu) indicating:
(1) your level of interest in enrolling (very high,
high, medium, low),
and
(2) whether you have had any prior exposure to (e.g.
coursework), or participation in, research using fMRI or other neuroscience
methodologies (e.g. EEG/ERP research, studying neuropsyhological populations).
