Peer Advisors: The table above shows new Peer Advisor assignments for 2002-3. These assignments apply to all Columbia undergraduates who have already declared a Psychology Major or Concentration, or a Neuroscience and Behavior Major, and are interested in meeting with a peer advisor.

Each major is assigned two peer advisors, and may visit one or both of them depending on compatibility of schedules and areas of interest/expertise. Peer Advisors in the Neuroscience and Behavior column are somewhat better versed in Neuroscience and Behavior major, while those in the Psychology column are somewhat more familiar with the Psychology major.

What is a "Peer Advisor?" A Peer Advisor is a student who is majoring in Psychology or in Neuroscience and Behavior and who has volunteered his/her time and energy to the creation and implementation of a Psychology Peer Advising Network. The charge for Peer Advisors is to provide a resource of accurate information for students while also devising new and more effective ways to facilitate contact between majors and faculty advisors.

Peer Advisors are well informed of the department's requirements and policies, they are comfortable working with both faculty and students, and they are interested in overseeing new programs and events to better inform majors of opportunities within the Department of Psychology.

How to contact a Peer Advisor. You may send email to a Peer Advisor to set up an appointment; just click on the Advisor's name. You will also find Peer Advisors at all of our Major Advising Fairs and Forums, where they will be happy to meet with students one-on-one and in small groups to discuss program planning, etc.
