Twenty-five percent of the current graduate students have received prestigious fellowships to support their graduate studies from the
National Science Foundation (NSF), the
Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC), the
National Service Research Award (NSRA) and the
National Institutes of Health (NIH). Five students have NSF fellowships, two have NSERC fellowships, one has an NRSA fellowship and one has received a fellowship from the Samsung Foundation.
Throughout the program, graduate students are encouraged to submit grant proposals to various agencies to help support their studies. It is important to note that the deadlines for these are typically in early fall, so first year students are encouraged to be thinking of a topic when they arrive and should request faculty help early on.
