General Area of Research
Development and neuroscience of judgment and decision making
Current Research
Bernd Figner's research is mainly concerned with the interplay of affective and deliberative processes and the role of cognitive control in decision making, specifically in the areas of risky decision making and temporal discounting. His work studies the neural underpinnings, as well as the development, of judgment and decision making processes across the life span, with a focus on the changes that occur during the transitions from childhood to adolescence and from adolescence to adulthood. He uses behavioral and physiological measures as well as brain imaging and brain stimulation techniques.
