General Area of Research
Expectancy and affective experience
Current Research
I am interested in understanding the mechanisms by which expectations modulate affective experiences, and how individual differences may mediate this relationship. My current research with Tor Wager uses fMRI and psychophysiology to examine how expectancy may influence the experience of thermal pain. I'm also interested in the role of affective expectancies in social relationships and mood and personality disorders. To this end, I am also looking at self-regulation in social interactions in borderline and avoidant personality disorders.
