General Area of Research

Regulatory fit in close relationships; motivation & goals; helping behavior

Current Research

My primary research explores the role of regulatory fit in close relationships in one attempt to resolve the finding that sometimes "opposites attract" (complementarity) while other times "birds of a feather flock together" (similarity). Additional research projects include work on the effect of different types of goals on motivational maintenance, and research looking at people's judgement of compliance when making requests for help.
