General Area of Research
Communication and social relations (persuasion, impression formation and interethnic interaction).
Current Research
It is through conversation that people learn about themselves, those closest to them and those that they are meeting for the first time. The feature of conversation I study is voice. I am interested in how voices are informative about the identity of a speaker and the extent to which voices shape attributions made about a speaker and what he or she is saying. The studies I’m working on and thinking about tend to revolve around what happens to impressions and attributions when you digitally alter someone’s voice to sound different.
