General Area of Research
Emotion Regulation, social cognition, and empathy
Current Research
I'm interested in studying the way people think about and interact with each other, at behavioral, psychophysiological, and neural levels. My projects with Kevin Ochsner in the Social Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Unit use skin conductance and fMRI to study the processes underlying empathic effort (trying to figure out what someone else is feeling), empathic accuracy (being right about what someone else is feeling), and supportive behavior (acting insightfully based on your appraisals of someone else's emotions).
I'm also interested in emotion regulation, and its application in depression.
