Ohio State lauded his work in illuminating "the mysteries of human behavior. His creative research designs and his ability to apply them to practical problems of social significance have justifiably made him the acknowledged leader and innovator in the field of personality psychology," the degree citation said. He has taught at Columbia since 1983.
- Lisa Graumlich has been named to the newly created posts of director of the Earth Learning Center and deputy director of the Biosphere 2 Center in Oracle, Ariz. - Two leading educators have joined Teachers College as visiting professors: Gordon K. Davies, who set policy for Virginia's public colleges and universities for 20 years, and Henry M. Levin, who is a specialist in the economics of education.
