Science Coalition Opens Web Site
he Science Coalition, a public policy group designed to press the cause of increased federal funding for university research, launches its Web site Oct. 7 with an on-line chat about exploring the planet Mars.
The new site is at http://www.sciencecoalition.org. Astronauts and astrophysicists are expected to discuss what we have learned from recent Mars probes and what those discoveries could mean. The event takes place on the Web site's "Science Cafe," from 9 to 11 P.M.
Columbia was one of a dozen universities that founded the Science Coalition in 1994. The organization now counts 413 science and medical societies, corporations and Nobel Prize winners, as well as 54 public and private universities.
