Columbia Hosts White House Conference Telecast
n Mon., Oct. 6, Columbia, in collaboration with the Environmental Protection Agency, will host the local presentation of The White House Conference on Climate Change: "The Challenge of Global Warming."
The conference will be broadcast via satellite and downlinked to sites around the country.
At Columbia, the live satellite broadcast will be downlinked into the Dag Hammarskjold Lounge in the International Affairs building from 10:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M.
At the White House, Vice-President Al Gore will make some introductory remarks which will be followed by remarks by President Bill Clinton. A series of panel discussions will follow.
The morning panels will address the science of climate change and emission reduction technology and domestic policy.
Following the morning program from the White House there will be a box lunch and discussion by a local panel.
