Professor Wu Remembered by Her Colleagues
olumbia's department of physics on Sept. 26 hosted a "Commemorative Symposium in Honor of C.S. Wu," the world-renowned physicist who died last Feburary. Her work at Columbia included a revolutionary experiment that disproved the law of conservation of parity. Among the honored guests were, from left, Yuan T. Lee, president of the Academia Sinica in Taiwan and Nobel laureate in chemistry; Provost Jonathan R. Cole; Luke C.L. Yuan, Wu's husband and a retired experimental physicist at Brookhaven National Laboratory; Val Fitch, the James S. McDonnell University Professor of Physics at Princeton and Nobel laureate in physics, and T.D. Lee, University Professor at Columbia and Nobel laureate in physics.
