sold-out crowd in Barnard's McIntosh student center last week heard alumna Suzanne Vega, BC'81, reminisce about her Barnard days.
"I spent a lot of time in this place," the singer-songwriter said, her eyes scanning the room. "In that corner."
But extra-curricular activities also kept her busy, she said, including the swim team (her membership on which she described as a great act of compassion by the coach) and the coffee house committee. Vega dismissed recent rumors that the diner in her trademark "Tom's Diner" song, was named for any other than the landmark eatery at the corner of W. 112th and Broadway. During her rendition of the a cappella song, Vega smiled as the audience sang along on the du-du-du-doos.
