SPORTS Men’s, Women’s Track & Field Teams Set Meet, School Marks
Sophomore Kara Kerr turned in the third-fastest mile in school history to win that event. Her time of 5:08.77 bested the field of 15 competitors and was a personal best by nearly five seconds. Junior Amerigo Rossi posted a 4:14.04 mile to win that event. Junior Jon-Mychal Bowman ran 7.68 to take third in the 55-meter hurdles. The time was the second-fastest in Columbia history, and was 0.14 seconds off the school record. First-year Barbara Nellenback raced to the second-fastest 1,000m in school history when she placed fourth. Her time of 3:00.81 was just over a second off the Columbia record of 2:59.53 set by Michele Smith in 1993 Sophomore Sarah Feeley cleared five feet, six and one-half inches to win the high jump. Her mark bested the meet’s field of nine competitors. Feeley established a new school high jump record when she cleared five feet, seven and one-quarter inches two weeks ago at the Princeton Relays. She has qualified for the ECAC Championships in Boston Mar. 7–8.
