Human Rights Giant Honored

ouis Henkin, University Professor Emeritus and chairman of the Center for the Study of Human Rights, was the honored guest at a reception Feb. 5 in the Heyman Center for the Humanities, marking the publication by Columbia University Press of Confucianism and Human Rights.
The book is edited by Professor and Provost Emeritus Wm. Theodore deBary of Columbia and Tu Weiming of Harvard and is dedicated to Henkin.
Among those honoring Henkin were Carl Hovde, chair of Friends of the Heyman Center; Irene Bloom, chair, Asian Studies Program, Barnard; Provost Jonathan R. Cole; John DArms, president of the American Council of Learned Societies; Jason Parker, executive associate of the ACLS; Law School Dean David Leebron; Marvin Frankel, former justice, New York Court of Appeals; Paul Martin, director of the center for Study of Human Rights; Henry Luce II, chairman of the Luce Foundation, and Terrill Lautz, president of the Luce Foundation.
