anhattan Borough President C. Virginia Fields and Columbia hosted a reception honoring Barbara R. Hatton, president of Knoxville College, an historically black institution, at a reception in the Low Library Faculty Room on Feb. 24.

  Hatton is formerly deputy director of the Ford Foundation’s Education and Culture Program and was a founding member of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.
